She gave us a wonderful report on RYLA activities, focusing on the Shark Tank presentations of the 10 or so teams that came up with plans for service projects and how they would raise funds to complete them.

Our Interactor from Seaholm will be giving her perspective on Interact Day on May 16, mark it in your calendar, always a popular luncheon.

Program:  Andy Meisner, Oakland County Treasurer.
Mr Meisner opened his address with a presidential quote (something along the lines of) “Everything that is wrong with American can best be fixed by everything that is right with America”, he then stated that Rotary is a perfect example of what is right with America.  He then gave us a detailed report on how and when Oakland confiscate homes for default on taxes.  This is not just County taxes, the process is handed over to them from local municipalities also.  They go OUT OF THEIR WAY to try and prevent this, meeting one on one with delinquents and have a 90% success rate when negotiating a structured settlement.
His second message concerned (I can’t remember)
His third and final message was about the Oakland County small business council (it’s not called this) which is there to nurture and help small businesses.  With loans available from $5,000 to $50,000 applicants have to go through a mini Shark Tank (used deliberately because of Kayla’s reference in her RYLA report) presentation to win approval.
With time to spare he concluded by thanking us for the work we perform at Owens Elementary and gave us a thumb nail report on the progress being made in the county seat.
To wit. Who knew that Pontiac is home to a world class grass court tennis facility in Wessen Lawn Tennis Club, slated to host an ATP tournament in the near future, The M1 Concourse and plans for a brand new major theater at Flagstar Strand are well advanced.

April 25th Speaker:  Nikki Keller and the board of Birmingham Youth Assistance.

We concluded with SMILES!

My apologies for errors and omissions.
