January 11, 2016 Meeting Bulletin
 
The meeting was called to order at 12:15 p.m. by Chris Winans.  
 
Opening activities included the Pledge of Allegiance, Rotary 4 Way Test, singing of America the Beautiful and the Invocation presented by Charles Wickens.
 
Guests and visiting Rotarians were introduced.  Visiting Governor Henry Dotson was present.

Raffle winner ($19) was Marcia Wilkinson while there were no winners in the card selection – the pot lives!
 
Announcements:
  • Norma Jean Evans thanked everyone for their support for the Pontiac Schools Reading Program
  • Charles Wickens reported on the status of the Master Tournament Raffle Tickets effort .  Marsha Kovacs has offered to donate a $100 gift certificate to the person selling the most tickets.
  • Bill Roy reported that Wednesday, January 13, is the next Hope Warming Center visit.  Bill invited the group to come and volunteer and also announced that the next time the Club will be serving at the Hope Warming Center will be March 29.
  • John Mucha reminded the group that there is no meeting on January 18, MLK Day.  Those available are asked to join fellow Birmingham Rotarians in volunteering at Gleaners that day from noon to 2:00 p.m.
  • Linda Hatfield announced that the next Third Thursday will be held January 21, 5-7 p.m., at the Griffin Claw in Birmingham.

Another Paul Harris Fellowship member was honored for her support of Rotary.  Norma Jean Evans received a Paul Harris recognition.  Mark Anderson and Dave Underdown were also noted as having four Paul Harris awards.
 
Birthday wishes and song went to Joe Valentine – January 12.
 
A special surprise guest at the meeting was Jim Conley who briefly addressed the group.
 
Guest speaker was Molly Reeser, executive director of Camp Casey.  Camp Casey provides support for children with cancer through their program featuring horses who visit the child’s home.  Riding activities are also available for families at various stables. The organization needs volunteers and financial support.
