Announcements
  • Thank you to all volunteers that participated at Gleaner’s on MLK Day
  • Third Thursday last week at Griffen Claw - 20 people in attendance and had a great time
  • Master tournament raffle tickets – Charles Wickins - We have sold enough tickets to break even – everything we collect from this point forward is profit.  $100 gift certificate to Flemmings for the person who sells the most raffle tickets.  Contact Reagan or Charles for more tickets.
  • Pontiac Schools Reading – Norma Jean Evans - 13 Rotarians volunteered last week. Wednesday, January 27th Girl’s Club is Cancelled. Guided reading on Thursday, January 28th from 9am-10:30 am
  • District Event 6380 – One Rotary Summit - Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 8:30am to 10:30am at Walsh College. Brainstorming session to bring Rotarians together to share ideas.
 
2-Minute Update – Joe Valentine
  • Update regarding panhandlers in Birmingham
  • What can the city do about the panhandlers? 
  • It is constitutionally legal under the First Amendment for individuals to panhandle on the streets of Birmingham
  • There have been no situations arising out of the panhandlers to date
  • Birmingham does enforce the ordinances that are currently in place. For example if there is an assault or the panhandler is impeding traffic or the sidewalk, please contact local authorities

Lived and studied in Norway with a factor making gummies 
Started out of a 500 sq. feet rental in Hamtramck and sold chocolates to hotels in New York and Chicago 
Opened two other locations – one is in downtown Detroit in Chrysler Center
