2-Minute Update: Jay Grossman
Update on Birmingham Eccentric.  They are hiring more reporters and have discussed a 5-year plan for the paper, so outlook is good.  Jay listed top 5 reasons to read the Birmingham Eccentric:
#5 - Reading is cool!
#4 - The articles inside are still relevant to today.
#3 - Election Coverage
#2 - The Eccentric tells YOUR stories - Local!
#1 - Their main reporter, Jay, is a Birmingham Rotarian! It was also added later, by Bob Kenning, that one of the founders of the Birmingham Eccentric was also a founder of the Rotary Club!

Speaker of the day was a last-minute cancelation.  Chuck Moss graciously stepped up to the plate to update us on RTA matters.  Public transit is poor in Detroit. There is a city ordinance that keeps SMART buses out of Detroit limits because only DDOT is allowed in Detroit.  This makes it difficult for those traveling from Oakland County to travel smoothly into Detroit.  RTA is doing many corridor studies right now, mainly on
Woodward and Gratiot.  Bloomfield currently has no SMART bus stops, so there is a big gap between Pontiac and Ferndale/Royal Oak. Once the studies are done, we may have a better idea as to what will be useful and beneficial for this area.  Also, Chuck discussed budgets and funds to not only create transportation but to sustain it year-after-year.  This may require a tax raise, but needs to be passed at the state level first to get it on the ballot.

The meeting was concluded with a rendition of SMILE!.
