Carrie Chapie was an attorney in her previous life, a mom to 3 beautiful humans, community advocate for literacy, anxiety, and learning differences, owner of Darling LLC and creator of Word Witt.

Heidi Miller is the Director of Learning with Center for Success.  Prior to working with CFS, she worked as a teacher in elementary classrooms for ten years in Michigan and internationally.  Working to positively impact education and equity are two of her core values.  She loves to spend time with her husband, four year old son, and two year old daughter.  In her spare time, she enjoys running and reading as many books as possible.

John Barrie is Founder and the Chief Innovation Officer of the Appropriate Technology Collaborative, a nonprofit that designs affordable, sustainable, technologies for the world’s poorest people. John is an Architect, Mathematician and Industrial Designer; he has also been an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at the University of Michigan. John is co-founder of Mayan Power and Light, a program in Guatemala that teaches Mayan women solar power, and creates Mayan woman owned social venture businesses. In 2019 Mayan Power and Light won the Energy Globe Award for Guatemala. In 2016 Mayan Power and Light was recognized as a “Sustainia 100”, one of the top 100 sustainable enterprises world-wide by the United Nations Compact for Sustainable Development. 

Amanda Harrison is a Community Engagement Manager for the Detroit Institute of Arts, focusing on Oakland County. Amanda helps facilitate Inside|Out, a program that brings reproductions of DIA artwork into communities like ours. Amanda also runs senior programming and community outreach at the DIA. She has a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Central Michigan University and lives in Rochester. 

Kady is the Founder and Executive Director of Raising Awareness with Students and a member of the Detroit Rotary Club. She is also a graduate of Michigan State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in Community Governance and Advocacy with a cognate in Political Science.

Dena worked in the Detroit area in various marketing roles for fifteen years before taking the position of Director of Development at Habitat for Humanity Capital Region in Lansing in 2010. While in Lansing Dena launched a statewide neighborhood revitalization program - Rock the Block, helped reestablish the affiliate in the community, and increase corporate partnerships through a customized engagement program - “Team Build Workshop”. In 2017 she joined Habitat Oakland where she has grown the Women Build program, launched an Interfaith group, and helped increase awareness through partner videos.

Carroll DeWeese, a former Birmingham City Commissioner, is an Official and Administrator for Youth, Open,College, Masters, and Para Athletics at National, International, and World Levels. "Athletics" refers to track and field, combined events, crosscountry, race walk, and all the various forms of long distance running.
Carroll is a member of the United States Track and Field Officials Hall of
Fame, along with other national and international honors. He plans to give
an overview of what he is currently doing and then looks forward to
answering questions."
