Guest Speaker/Program: Julia Winter, Teacher @ Detroit Country Day – STEM Alchemie.
Julia comes from a Minnesotan Rotary family, was host to countless exchange students and was one in Finland.  She has a true appreciation of the powerful force for good that is Rotary, however I did hear her asking for an application to join.  Maybe because she is so busy both teaching at Country Day and developing a series of games to help make Organic Chemistry more interesting.
Seeing as how I know zero about the subject I have to admit to a certain amount of confusion and am not really qualified to give a report on her program.  I will say that it was WONDERFULLY well presented and I enjoyed every minute of it, even though her great videos (which would, of course, made everything crystal clear) would not play.
In essence I believe that her startup company Alchemie (I think this is its fifth name, who says names are not important?) has developed three game, Chair, Cyclo 6 and Chiros, which makes organic chemistry more fun than going to the dentist, which is a distinction that it currently does not hold.  There seemed to be a lot of nodding from those guests who studied this subject, so my guess is that she is on to something.
She shared a little bit of the process it took to make this happen and it is not for the faint hearted.
We wish her all the best and you can find her games (currently for free) at: http://www.alchem.ie/
