Robert E. Sullivan, Jr., is a sixth-generation Detroiter who has developed a lifelong interest in Detroit history and city planning. He holds a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan and has also studied architecture and urban planning at Oxford and the University of Michigan. In addition to being an attorney for 38 years, he has taught his History of Detroit class at the International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit and at Macomb Community College. He has also served as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Detroit, a Special Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Detroit, a member of the History Advisors Committee of the Detroit Tricentennial Commission, and a history representative on the Wayne County Council for the Arts, History and Humanities. In addition, he has authored several publications on Detroit history.
